Kyra’s extensive experience at WHYY, Inc., a $40 million public media company serving Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Southern New Jersey, spans over two decades. In her current role as President of WHYY New Ventures and Enterprises and Executive Vice President, she leads a new unit focused on entrepreneurial deals and the monetization of underperforming physical, spectrum, and content assets to create new revenue sources for WHYY. Previously, as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, Kyra was responsible for overseeing the operation of all content distribution platforms, production of content, legal matters, government affairs, and board governance, managing a significant portion of the organization’s employees and budget.
Throughout her tenure at WHYY, Kyra has achieved remarkable accomplishments, including the expansion of WHYY’s content footprint through the acquisition of five NJ radio stations, the monetization of underperforming assets resulting in multimillion-dollar revenue streams, and the restructuring of governance to increase efficiency and participation. She has also demonstrated expertise in project management, contract negotiation, and creative deal-making, leading to substantial cost savings and revenue gains for the organization.
Prior to joining WHYY, Kyra gained valuable experience as an associate at Dechert, LLP, and as Associate Director at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Greater Philadelphia. She holds a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and a B.A. with Highest Distinction from Pennsylvania State University.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Kyra is actively involved in various civic activities and has received numerous awards and honors for her leadership and contributions. She serves on the boards of PRX, Inc., and the Station Resource Group, among others, and has been recognized as one of the Top 75 Irish-American Businesswomen in the U.S. by the Irish Voice and as one of 25 Women of Distinction by the Philadelphia Business Journal.
