Kristian Moller Jensen is an accomplished Chief Risk Officer, enterprise risk executive, and strategic advisor with approximately 28 years of international experience spanning financial services, investment banking, capital markets, risk management, and institutional transformation. Throughout his career, he has operated at the intersection of risk, strategy, regulation, and business performance, helping complex financial institutions strengthen their governance while navigating rapidly evolving markets and regulatory expectations. His professional journey has taken him through major global financial centers, including New York, London, and Singapore, while his broader international exposure extends across Malaysia, Indonesia, the Middle East, and the United Arab Emirates.
Kristian’s career began with a strong foundation in finance and financial markets. After earning a master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from Aarhus University and participating in an MBA exchange program at Harvard University, he entered the financial sector as an analyst with Nordea Markets. From these early years, he developed an understanding of financial instruments, market dynamics, valuation, and risk that would become foundational to his later executive leadership. His subsequent work as a Senior Consultant and Financial Engineer with SunGard Trading and Risk further expanded his expertise in trading technology, quantitative finance, analytics, and the systems that enable financial institutions to understand and manage complex exposures.
Kristian later joined Credit Suisse Securities USA LLC, where he served as Vice President and worked across risk management, structured products, and new business development and implementation. His experience in this environment deepened his knowledge of capital markets, derivatives, structured products, fixed income, equities, valuation, and financial risk. He subsequently became a partner at 3 Square North Capital Management, where he helped develop trading and risk strategies focused on multi-strategy and algorithmic, low-latency, high-frequency hedge fund approaches. These experiences gave Kristian a perspective that extends beyond risk oversight alone: he understands how markets, products, technology, strategy, and risk interact within organizations seeking both growth and resilience.
His career then expanded significantly across Asia. At OCBC Bank, Kristian held senior risk management positions before becoming Head of Market Price Control, with responsibility encompassing market price validation, risk management, and analytics. He also served as Vice President of Risk Methodologies and Analytics at Bank of Singapore, formerly ING Asia Private Bank, where his responsibilities included reviewing and rebuilding risk models, analytics, and methodologies. Working in Singapore and across the broader Asian financial environment strengthened his ability to lead across cultures, regulatory regimes, and organizational structures while maintaining a disciplined approach to institutional risk.
Kristian later returned to Credit Suisse in New York, where his responsibilities encompassed market risk reporting and analytics, IHC and CCAR, Global Markets Chief Risk Officer activities, and strategic transformation. This stage of his career brought together his extensive technical risk expertise and his ability to lead complex change initiatives. His work has included major risk frameworks associated with Basel III/IV and CCAR, strategic transformation programs, regulatory and audit management, market risk, capital markets, and enterprise-level risk governance. His experience enables him to engage with sophisticated technical issues while maintaining focus on the strategic implications for executive teams and governing bodies.
At First Abu Dhabi Bank, Kristian progressed from Head of Enterprise Risk Management for FAB USA to Chief Risk Officer USA, bringing his experience to one of the world’s significant international banking organizations. In his Chief Risk Officer and enterprise risk leadership work, he has engaged with senior stakeholders, regulators, business leaders, and governance committees while addressing enterprise risk management, risk and control assessments, compliance, strategic programs, and institutional resilience. His committee experience has included participation in executive, asset and liability, compliance, and risk governance forums, giving him direct exposure to the disciplines required for informed executive and board-level oversight.
A defining feature of Kristian’s leadership is his ability to translate complex risk issues into practical strategic considerations. His expertise encompasses enterprise risk management, operational resilience, risk appetite, governance transformation, stress testing, regulatory remediation, control environments, fraud and emerging risks, and non-financial risk oversight. He also brings extensive markets knowledge across derivatives, equity and credit derivatives, structured products, fixed income, equities, trading systems, hedge funds, valuation, and capital markets. Increasingly, his interests also include the intersection of risk management and artificial intelligence, an area that requires organizations to balance innovation with sound governance, controls, accountability, and strategic judgment.
Kristian’s career has consistently required collaboration across organizational and geographic boundaries. He has worked with regulators, Chief Risk Officers, Chief Financial Officers, business and divisional risk leaders, audit and compliance professionals, technology teams, and other senior stakeholders. His experience participating in steering and governance committees has reinforced his understanding that effective risk management cannot operate as an isolated control function; it must be integrated into strategic decision-making and supported by a culture in which leadership understands both the opportunities being pursued and the risks being accepted.
Beyond his executive responsibilities, Kristian has contributed his knowledge through advisory and educational engagement. His professional background includes serving as an advisor to the National University of Singapore’s Business Analytics faculty and speaking on risk management best practices for establishing effective enterprise risk management frameworks within financial institutions. He has also served on a risk-related committee during his career. These experiences complement his executive responsibilities by demonstrating an ability to communicate sophisticated financial and risk concepts to varied audiences and contribute to conversations extending beyond his immediate operating responsibilities.
Now expanding his focus toward board and advisory service, Kristian seeks to apply the perspective accumulated over nearly three decades to organizations confronting complex decisions, transformation, growth, and emerging risks. He views board service as an opportunity both to broaden his experience and to contribute meaningful expertise to companies that can benefit from rigorous risk thinking, international perspective, and strategic problem-solving. His value to a board extends beyond identifying potential risks; it lies in helping leadership understand how thoughtful governance, informed risk-taking, organizational resilience, and disciplined execution can support sustainable growth and long-term value creation.
Kristian’s international experience is reinforced by a distinctly global outlook. Having worked across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, he understands that effective leadership must account for differences in markets, regulation, culture, and stakeholder expectations. He speaks Danish, English, and German, adding another dimension to his ability to operate across international environments. Away from his professional responsibilities, Kristian enjoys soccer and sailing—interests that reflect his appreciation for teamwork, preparation, adaptability, and navigating changing conditions.
At this stage of his career, Kristian brings together a combination of executive risk leadership, financial-market expertise, regulatory experience, strategic transformation capability, and international perspective. He has built his career around understanding complexity and creating structures through which organizations can manage it more effectively. As a prospective board member and advisor, he offers the ability to examine issues through multiple lenses—risk, governance, markets, regulation, technology, and strategy—while remaining focused on helping organizations make informed decisions, solve difficult problems, and move in a sustainable direction.
