For more than three decades, Kirk Reid has established himself as one of the financial services industry’s most accomplished operations, technology, and business transformation executives. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated an exceptional ability to modernize organizations, align technology with business strategy, and build high-performing teams that deliver measurable value. His unique blend of operational expertise, strategic vision, and servant leadership has enabled global investment firms to navigate complex market environments while strengthening governance, improving client experiences, and accelerating long-term growth. Recognized for his humility, accountability, and collaborative leadership style, Kirk has become a trusted advisor to executive leadership teams, investors, and boards seeking transformational change.
Currently serving as Partner and Chief Operating and Technology Officer at ArrowMark Partners, a diversified investment management firm overseeing approximately $20 billion in assets under management, Kirk leads one of the broadest executive portfolios within the organization. His responsibilities encompass enterprise strategy, technology, operations, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, legal, human resources, compliance, facilities, and strategic business planning. As the firm’s first Chief Operating and Technology Officer—and the first non-investment professional to be named Partner in the company’s history—he has played an instrumental role in reshaping the organization’s operational foundation while helping position the firm for sustained growth in an increasingly competitive investment landscape.
Since joining ArrowMark Partners in 2019, Kirk has spearheaded a comprehensive modernization initiative that has transformed nearly every aspect of the firm’s operating model. Within months of his arrival, he completed a full operational assessment and executed a cloud migration to Microsoft Azure, significantly enhancing scalability, security, and business resilience. He modernized cybersecurity infrastructure, established enterprise-wide data governance, upgraded investment and client reporting platforms, implemented an internal artificial intelligence strategy with business-specific large language model use cases, and successfully outsourced and redesigned key middle-office functions. Under his leadership, ArrowMark also expanded its commercial real estate platform to more than $3 billion in assets under management while strengthening operational efficiency across multiple investment strategies.
Kirk’s leadership extends well beyond technology implementation. As Chair of ArrowMark’s Operating Committee, he works directly alongside the firm’s founders to establish strategic priorities, oversee organizational performance, and guide long-term business initiatives. He has successfully led complex office expansions, negotiated critical vendor partnerships, directed business continuity planning during the COVID-19 pandemic with uninterrupted client service, and introduced Kaizen principles that foster continuous improvement throughout the organization. His ability to combine operational discipline with innovative thinking has made him a catalyst for sustainable organizational excellence.
Prior to joining ArrowMark, Kirk served as Senior Vice President and Head of Operations for OppenheimerFunds, where he was recruited to centralize operations supporting approximately $260 billion in assets under management. Leading an organization of more than 550 professionals and managing a $270 million operating budget, he unified multiple business functions while building a new operational strategy centered on efficiency, data governance, automation, and client service. During his tenure, he negotiated transformational technology partnerships, reduced operating costs, accelerated client reporting timelines, established offshore operating capabilities, and helped build centers of excellence focused on robotic process automation, smart workflows, and data science. He also played a critical leadership role during the acquisition of OppenheimerFunds by Invesco, co-leading technology integration, operational planning, and organizational transition efforts while supporting employees throughout the merger process.
Earlier in his career, Kirk spent more than two decades with Janus Capital Group, where he steadily advanced into senior executive leadership. His responsibilities eventually spanned global institutional operations across offices in the United States, London, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Tokyo. During his international assignments, he developed deep expertise managing diverse teams, overseeing complex investment operations, and supporting institutional clients across public equity, private equity, fixed income, hedge funds, exchange-traded funds, separately managed accounts, and UCITS structures. His work modernizing middle-office operations, renegotiating strategic vendor relationships, integrating acquisitions, and supporting the firm’s global expansion established him as one of the industry’s leading operations executives.
International experience has been a defining characteristic of Kirk’s leadership journey. Having lived and worked in London while managing operations across Europe and Asia, including Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and other international markets, he understands the importance of cultural awareness, global collaboration, and disciplined execution. His experience leading geographically dispersed teams has strengthened his ability to build unified organizations that balance regional expertise with enterprise-wide strategic objectives. These global perspectives continue to influence his leadership philosophy and his ability to guide organizations operating within increasingly interconnected financial markets.
Throughout his career, Kirk has remained focused on developing people as much as developing systems. He believes that sustainable transformation begins with empowered employees, transparent communication, and a culture that encourages innovation and continuous learning. His leadership style emphasizes accountability without bureaucracy, collaboration without silos, and strategic execution grounded in integrity. Whether implementing enterprise technology, improving operational processes, or mentoring future leaders, he consistently works to create environments where individuals and organizations can achieve their highest potential.
Kirk’s educational foundation further reinforces his executive capabilities. He earned his Executive Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University with highest honors, reflecting both his intellectual discipline and commitment to lifelong learning. Combined with decades of practical executive experience, this education has enabled him to bridge financial strategy, operational execution, governance, and emerging technologies. His previous service on the NICSA Board of Directors and his recent portfolio company board experience have strengthened his understanding of fiduciary oversight, executive accountability, strategic planning, and board governance, making him exceptionally well qualified for corporate board service.
Today, Kirk is actively pursuing additional board opportunities where he can leverage his extensive experience helping organizations modernize operations, navigate technological transformation, strengthen governance, and accelerate strategic growth. With expertise spanning fintech, financial services, banking, technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, enterprise operations, mergers and acquisitions, and organizational leadership, he offers boards a rare combination of operational depth and strategic perspective. His proven ability to guide organizations through periods of significant change, combined with his collaborative leadership style and unwavering commitment to integrity, positions him as a trusted advisor capable of helping companies create lasting value for shareholders, employees, clients, and stakeholders alike.
