Kevin Flusche is an accomplished executive and commercial leader with more than 30 years of professional experience spanning industrial process technologies, instrumentation, process control, automation, manufacturing, petrochemicals, refining, and advanced analytical solutions. His career reflects a distinctive combination of scientific knowledge, operational experience, technical sales expertise, and executive leadership. From managing complex manufacturing operations early in his career to leading sales organizations across the Americas and ultimately serving as Vice President and General Manager, Kevin has developed a broad perspective on how technology, people, customers, and disciplined execution come together to create sustainable business value.
Kevin currently serves as Vice President and General Manager at HORIBA in Houston, Texas, where he brings decades of industrial and commercial experience to an organization serving sophisticated process and environmental markets. His progression into senior executive leadership is grounded in years spent working directly with customers, technical teams, sales organizations, and industrial applications. That breadth enables him to understand a business from multiple perspectives—from the technical requirements of a process application and the realities of manufacturing to commercial strategy, customer relationships, organizational leadership, and long-term market development.
Immediately prior to joining HORIBA, Kevin served as Area Sales Director – Americas for Valmet, where he was responsible for solutions and systems sales throughout the Americas for the Valmet Gas Chromatography Systems Maxum business, formerly Siemens GCI. The position combined his extensive knowledge of gas chromatography and process analysis with responsibility for a geographically diverse commercial market. His work required an understanding not simply of products, but of how sophisticated analytical systems fit within customers’ operating environments and support their broader production, quality, safety, and process-control objectives.
Kevin’s tenure with Siemens represented another significant chapter in his leadership development. Over approximately nine years, he progressed through increasingly significant sales leadership responsibilities, serving as U.S. Sales Manager – CGA, Regional Sales Manager – East, and ultimately National Sales Manager. These positions strengthened his experience in sales management, negotiation, process instrumentation, gas chromatography, automation, and strategic customer engagement. They also provided an opportunity to lead within a major global industrial organization while remaining closely connected to the practical requirements and evolving priorities of customers across the process industries.
Before Siemens, Kevin served as Region Sales Manager with Prozess Technologie, focusing on technical sales of NIR and UV/VIS process spectroscopy analyzers. Earlier, he spent nearly 13 years as a Senior Sales Engineer with Applied Instrument Technologies, where his responsibilities encompassed sophisticated analytical technologies including FTIR, NIR, Raman, mass spectroscopy, and gas chromatography. His work supported process applications across industries such as steel, pharmaceuticals, petroleum refining, chemicals, and biotechnology. This extended period of technical selling helped Kevin develop an ability to translate highly specialized technology into practical solutions for customers facing demanding industrial and operational challenges.
Kevin began building his commercial expertise with Chromex, where he sold Raman and optical spectroscopy systems to university and industrial customers. His professional foundation, however, also includes significant hands-on operational leadership. As Superintendent with Creamland Dairy, he was responsible for the day-to-day operation of a multimillion-gallon-per-year ice cream plant and managed approximately 50 union employees and 10 non-union personnel across production, warehouse, vault, and maintenance functions. That experience gave him firsthand exposure to manufacturing leadership, workforce management, operational accountability, and the realities faced by the industrial customers he would later serve throughout his career.
Complementing this experience is a strong academic foundation spanning both science and business. Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Mathematics from McMurry University, where he also participated in football and the Kiva Social Club. He later earned a Master of Business Administration in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico’s James & Gail Ellis School of Business Leadership. The combination of chemistry, mathematics, and business education has complemented a career that frequently sits at the intersection of technical complexity and commercial decision-making, giving Kevin a framework for considering problems analytically while remaining attentive to organizational and market realities.
Throughout his career, Kevin has developed expertise across sales management, general management, instrumentation, process control, negotiation, manufacturing, petrochemicals, project management, chemical engineering applications, gas systems, materials, distributed control systems, refining, automation, gas chromatography, spectroscopy, and product development. His experience also encompasses process automation, engineering, project engineering, biotechnology, and multiple forms of analytical spectroscopy. Rather than developing his career within a narrow functional specialty, he has consistently worked across technical, commercial, operational, and managerial disciplines—an interdisciplinary perspective that is particularly relevant to companies navigating growth, technological change, commercialization, and complex industrial markets.
Kevin’s professional perspective has also been shaped by extensive international exposure. His career has connected him with business environments and markets across Japan, Europe, South America, Canada, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Working across these regions has broadened his understanding of the ways customers, industries, and business practices differ across markets while reinforcing the importance of relationships, adaptability, and clear communication. This international perspective complements his particular interest in contributing to small and mid-cap organizations, especially those operating within oil and gas, process control, industrial technology, and related markets.
Board service represents a natural extension of Kevin’s professional journey. Having previously served on several university boards, he understands that effective governance requires a different perspective from day-to-day executive management. He is pursuing additional board opportunities both to contribute the breadth of experience accumulated throughout his career and to continue learning from other accomplished leaders. He approaches board service with an interest in asking thoughtful questions, understanding the underlying business, and applying his technical, commercial, and operational experience where it can help an organization consider opportunities and challenges from multiple angles.
At the center of Kevin’s professional philosophy is a commitment to continued growth. His desire to serve organizations at the board level is motivated not only by what he can contribute, but also by the opportunity to deepen his own experience and continue learning. More than three decades in industry have given him substantial knowledge, yet his career progression demonstrates an ongoing willingness to embrace new responsibilities, technologies, markets, and perspectives. That combination of experience and curiosity shapes an executive who values practical knowledge, thoughtful leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Away from his professional responsibilities, Kevin enjoys spending time outdoors, including fly fishing, mountain biking, and hiking. These interests reflect an appreciation for challenge, exploration, patience, and experiences beyond the corporate environment. Whether navigating an industrial market, developing commercial organizations, engaging with customers around sophisticated process technology, or exploring new terrain outdoors, Kevin brings a mindset grounded in preparation, adaptability, persistence, and learning.
Kevin’s career ultimately tells the story of a technically grounded leader who has continually expanded the scope of his responsibilities. He has progressed from manufacturing operations and specialized scientific instrumentation sales to regional and national commercial leadership, Americas-wide responsibility, and executive general management. Along the way, he has developed a deep understanding of industrial customers, process technologies, sales organizations, international markets, and people leadership. As he expands his involvement in board and advisory service, he brings a combination of technical depth, commercial judgment, operational perspective, international exposure, and more than 30 years of experience that can contribute meaningful context to organizations confronting the opportunities and complexities of industrial growth.
