    John McNally is a highly accomplished senior executive with nearly 40 years of extensive experience driving innovation, leadership, and growth within the energy storage, electronics, and software industries. With a career distinguished by technical expertise, visionary leadership, and a passion for product development, John has played a pivotal role in shaping advanced energy management systems that are transforming the way energy is stored and managed globally.

    Currently serving as Senior Director of Energy Management Systems at American Energy Storage Innovations, Inc. (AESI), John leads a dynamic team responsible for pioneering StorView, AESI’s state-of-the-art Energy Management System. His leadership fosters an innovative environment where cutting-edge technologies converge with strategic business initiatives to create solutions that address the evolving demands of energy storage in data centers and grid applications. John’s role is a testament to his ability to blend deep technical knowledge with hands-on management to bring complex products from concept to market success.

    John’s professional journey spans numerous leadership roles, including Vice President of Engineering, Energy Storage at Vertiv, where he directed engineering teams in delivering advanced energy storage solutions tailored for critical data center infrastructure and smart grids. Before Vertiv, he was Vice President and Chief Engineer at IHI Energy Storage, where he was instrumental in building an energy storage business within a large multinational corporation. His extensive experience also includes senior roles at Tripp Lite and A123Systems, where he led software development teams focused on embedded systems and advanced battery controls for SmartGrid applications.

    Early in his career, John served as Director of Engineering and Product Management at American Power Conversion, overseeing the development of management cards and peripherals essential to UPS, power distribution, and cooling devices. As President of CompuSci, Inc., he managed company operations and product development, while his beginnings as a Senior Engineer at McDonnell Douglas equipped him with valuable experience designing advanced controls and displays for aircraft.

    John’s expertise encompasses a wide array of technical skills including product management, embedded systems, software engineering, program and project management, business development, acquisitions, and integrations. His innovative spirit is further underscored by holding nine patents, reflecting his commitment to pushing technological boundaries.

    Educationally, John holds a Master of Business Administration from Fontbonne University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Missouri University of Science and Technology, where he was active in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). He is also an active member of the IEEE since 2008 and affiliated with the Energy Storage Association.

    Fluent in English and conversational in French, John embraces lifelong learning, guided by his personal motto, “You’re never too old to learn.” Outside of his professional pursuits, he enjoys playing piano, traveling, and baseball.
