    Joey Lipton is an accomplished and versatile cybersecurity attorney, senior in-house counsel, and former federal prosecutor with over 25 years of experience managing security-related risks in highly regulated environments. As Corporate Counsel and Senior Director at Okta, Inc., Joey leads the company’s global Cybersecurity & Privacy legal practice group, advising executives and cross-functional teams on regulatory compliance, incident response, data protection, and security governance. His career spans public service, global financial institutions, and high-growth tech, making him a trusted legal strategist in navigating evolving cybersecurity and data privacy laws.

    Prior to joining Okta, Joey spent over a decade at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he rose to Managing Director and Associate General Counsel. There, he led legal teams responsible for cybersecurity, global security, privacy, and data protection across the firm’s 300,000+ employees and operations in over 100 countries. His strategic counsel helped shape global frameworks for operational resilience, insider threat mitigation, third-party risk, and crisis management. As a recognized subject matter expert, Joey also advised the firm’s Chief Information Security Officer and participated in key leadership groups driving governance and security innovation.

    Before focusing on cybersecurity and privacy, Joey spent five years in JPMorgan’s Government Investigations & Regulatory Enforcement group, where he managed a team of attorneys handling high-stakes investigations involving the DOJ, SEC, CFTC, and other global regulators. He led responses to internal whistleblower reports, regulatory enforcement actions, and complex financial crime inquiries, solidifying his reputation as a decisive and trusted leader during legal crises.

    Earlier in his career, Joey served over a decade in the U.S. Department of Justice, including as a prosecutor in the Fraud Section’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) unit and U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York. He prosecuted multinational corruption and organized crime cases, supervised teams of prosecutors, and successfully litigated multiple jury trials. His extensive courtroom and negotiation experience honed his ability to lead under pressure and guide organizations through regulatory scrutiny with confidence.

    Joey remains deeply committed to education and public service. He served as an adjunct professor at The George Washington University Law School, teaching a seminar on foreign bribery prosecution, and currently sits on the board of the CUNY School of Law Foundation, supporting diversity and public interest in the legal profession.
