As Founder and Principal Consultant, Janine partners with clients across business, nonprofit, and event-based contexts. Prior to founding With Gumption, Janine served as Global Product Team Lead in Vaccine Development at Pfizer. In this role, she directed early and late-stage vaccine development programs, aligning scientific, clinical, regulatory, operational, and business development teams around shared objectives.

At Pfizer, Janine played a key leadership role in the Valneva and Pfizer Lyme disease vaccine partnership. She led strategic decision making, implementation planning, alliance governance, and committee coordination, helping deliver a pivotal Phase 3 efficacy readout that informed future regulatory and strategic planning for potential licensure in North America and Europe.

Janine’s scientific leadership also includes her ongoing role with Whooshh Innovations, where she has served as Scientific Advisor and previously as Vice President of Scientific Research. In this capacity, she led multidisciplinary teams across biology, fisheries, environmental science, and engineering to advance novel fish passage technologies from concept through prototype development, evaluation, and implementation.

Her work at Whooshh reflects her ability to bridge science, technology, and environmental stewardship. She helped drive cross sector collaboration, including work on AI enabled fish recognition systems, while supporting grant and contract proposals that funded research, engineering, and field deployment initiatives.

Earlier in her career, Janine brought her leadership skills into entrepreneurship as Business Manager and Co- Owner of Cave B Estate Winery and Vineyards. There, she oversaw operations, strategic planning, marketing, staffing, supply chain coordination, customer engagement, and business expansion, including opening a second tasting room and launching new revenue generating programs.

Janine’s foundation in science is equally distinguished. She held research and program leadership roles at the University of Washington in microbiology and genomics research, as well as at Merck Research Laboratories, where she lead the HPV vaccine research and clinical assays in end to end development through licensure and launch of a major vaccine product.

Her academic background includes a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis, an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Washington. She also completed postdoctoral fellowships in HPV research at Indiana University School of Medicine and in skin biology research at the National Institutes of Health.

Janine’s professional profile is strengthened by her record of 89 peer reviewed publications and six patents, reflecting both scientific depth and practical innovation. She has also pursued ongoing professional development in artificial intelligence fluency and project management, reinforcing her commitment to staying current in a rapidly changing world.
