Currently serving as the Vice President of Business Development for Schuff Steel, Gary oversees sales across 18 states with an annual quota of $160 million. His expertise in relationship management has allowed Schuff to expand into markets like Austin, Minneapolis, Detroit, and Kansas City, where the company had little prior presence. His ability to engage senior executives and C-level decision-makers has been instrumental in securing long-term partnerships with general contractors, making Schuff a preferred structural steel fabrication and erection partner.
Previously, as President of RF Stearns, Gary led a company-wide transformation by restructuring the operations team and refocusing the company’s strategy on design-assist opportunities in Portland and Seattle. He successfully closed out five large-scale projects that had been stagnant for years, while rebranding the company and establishing new business development initiatives. His efforts positioned the company for long-term success and increased revenue potential.
At Fought & Company, Gary was brought in as Business Development Manager to revitalize a declining sales pipeline. He successfully rebranded the company, launching a new website, logo, and marketing materials, while implementing a CRM system to improve sales tracking and customer engagement. His strategic foresight shifted the company from bid-driven work to a design-build approach, and he personally secured a key partnership with SidePlate Systems, elevating the company’s market presence.
His expertise extends beyond construction and engineering. At Advanced Energy Group, he founded and led a division focused on turnkey energy services, securing large-scale projects with OHSU. Recognizing operational limitations, he transitioned to a business development role at Advanced Technology Group, helping the company penetrate high-tech, healthcare, and commercial markets.
His leadership in financial services and technology includes his tenure at Metavante Corporation, where he worked with C-level executives at major West Coast banks, guiding them through strategic technology investments. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Sales at Harland Financial Solutions, leading a 45-person team and managing $65 million in annual revenue. He was instrumental in restructuring the sales team, implementing new compensation models, and driving record-setting revenues.
Earlier in his career, Gary spent 16 years at Siemens Building Technologies in multiple leadership roles, including General Manager, where he oversaw a $35 million P&L and a 100-person team. He led the company to record revenue growth, secured multimillion-dollar contracts, and captured over 40% market share in Oregon and Southwest Washington. His experience as National Sales Manager for Siemens Canada further strengthened his expertise in cross-border operations and strategic partnerships.
Beyond his corporate leadership, Gary has been actively involved in governance, serving on the board of Rivermark Community Credit Union for a decade.
