Frederick Burke, PMP, is an accomplished technology executive, entrepreneur, project management leader, and board advisor whose career spans more than three decades of technological change and organizational transformation. With a professional foundation encompassing information technology management, software development, systems engineering, computer operations, project and program management, and business leadership, Frederick has built his career around turning complex challenges into practical results. Today, he is particularly focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence, enterprise technology, and workforce transformation, bringing both strategic perspective and hands-on operating experience to organizations navigating the next generation of technological change.
Frederick’s career began with a strong technical foundation at Electronic Data Systems, where he served as a Systems Engineer and provided data-processing services supporting General Motors operations in materials management, purchasing, and transportation logistics. Working with technologies including PL/1, COBOL, JCL, Assembler, CICS, and IMS DB/DC gave him firsthand experience with the systems supporting major enterprise operations. He also completed EDS’s Systems Engineering Development program, further strengthening the combination of technical discipline and structured problem-solving that would become central to his leadership style. His subsequent years as an independent computer consultant expanded that foundation as he assisted clients with hardware and software installations, programming, training, and ongoing technology support.
As Frederick’s career progressed, his responsibilities increasingly shifted from technical execution to leadership and management. At Hodges Technologies, he supervised technical support and programming in a client-server software environment, performing programming enhancements while overseeing support activities. That experience further developed his ability to operate between technology teams and business requirements—an ability that became increasingly important as he assumed responsibility for larger teams, budgets, and enterprise initiatives. Rather than leaving his technical background behind as he advanced, Frederick used it as a foundation for understanding the people, processes, risks, and systems involved in complex technology programs.
That progression became especially evident during his tenure with Fiserv. As a Project Manager, Frederick was entrusted with leadership responsibilities across multiple departments, including Production Control, Mainframe Programmer Support, PC Products, Tape Library, and Distribution. At various points, he managed approximately 15 to 22 direct reports while carrying responsibility for an annual budget of roughly $3.5 million. He also served as chief project leader for more than 40 successful initiatives. His responsibilities extended beyond traditional project management into personnel leadership, budget variance management, employee development, interviewing, meeting facilitation, operational problem-solving, and the coordination of technical resources across several functions.
Some of Frederick’s most significant career accomplishments emerged from this period. He helped lead a net banking product from kickoff through production, with the product generating more than $500,000 in revenue at launch and subsequently becoming a multimillion-dollar annual revenue producer. He participated in the successful completion of Y2K testing involving approximately 400 credit unions, implemented disaster recovery planning that successfully passed independent audits, and helped achieve compliance during a federal ACH audit of the data center. Frederick also developed a scheduling process that produced a reported 50 percent improvement in productivity. Collectively, these experiences strengthened his understanding that effective technology leadership requires more than successful implementation—it requires disciplined execution, sound risk management, measurable business outcomes, and the ability to bring people together around a shared objective.
Since 2005, Frederick has continued that work as Founder and Executive Project Manager Consultant of Nature’s Own Way – NOW! LLC. His consulting career has given him exposure to a broad range of technology and operational challenges, particularly within professional-services environments. His work has included overseeing successful law-firm data migrations between practice-management platforms, administering Filevine and Clio systems, managing website development initiatives, conducting employee appraisal processes, and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously. He also co-founded Got-a-Case Legal Systems, LLC. These experiences have reinforced Frederick’s ability to quickly understand unfamiliar environments, organize complex initiatives, work effectively with diverse stakeholders, and guide projects from concept through execution.
Entrepreneurship has been another defining thread throughout Frederick’s professional life. In addition to his consulting ventures, he spent more than three decades helping operate a successful family-owned floral business serving Richmond, Michigan, and the surrounding community. That experience provided a perspective distinct from his work in enterprise technology: the realities of customer relationships, local reputation, service, adaptability, and long-term business ownership. His interests have also extended into creative endeavors. Frederick has written novels and served as a co-executive producer of the documentary Rise Up, demonstrating a willingness to pursue ambitious projects beyond conventional technology and management environments.
Frederick’s leadership experience also extends into nonprofit governance. He served as a Board Member of the Great School of Natural Science from 2012 through 2020 and as Vice President in 2017. His tenure ultimately included participation in the unanimous board decision to close the approximately century-old institution and dissolve the organization in 2020, with approximately $1.2 million subsequently donated to Shriners Hospitals in California. The experience exposed him to the responsibility that accompanies governance decisions involving organizational legacy, financial stewardship, stakeholders, and mission. His broader professional and intellectual involvement has included participation in the PMI Great Lakes Chapter as well as longstanding interest in the Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson societies, reflecting his appreciation for both professional development and the traditions of American literature and thought.
Frederick holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Business Management from Saginaw Valley State University, where he graduated cum laude. He has held the Project Management Professional designation since 2004, maintaining a credential that complements decades of practical experience managing projects, professionals, budgets, risks, and technology implementations. His expertise encompasses strategic and complex project management, program management, information technology management, systems engineering, software and IT consulting, computer operations, process improvement, technical support, business ownership, and organizational leadership. His professional profile also reflects expertise in artificial intelligence and IT integration, alongside the project-management disciplines that have defined much of his career.
Looking forward, Frederick is particularly interested in helping executives and organizations understand and manage the implications of artificial intelligence. He views himself as a Digital Workforce Transformation Specialist, with an interest in supporting executives developing AI strategies, managers leading AI adoption initiatives alongside ERP and Agile environments, and organizations pursuing beneficial workforce transformation. His perspective is grounded not simply in enthusiasm for new technology, but in decades spent implementing systems, managing technical professionals, overseeing operational change, and translating technology investments into business outcomes. He is especially interested in startups, early-stage and emerging organizations, venture-backed companies, and established enterprises where thoughtful technology strategy and disciplined execution can create meaningful value.
Frederick approaches board and advisory service as an extension of that career. He brings the perspective of someone who has worked as a programmer and systems engineer, supervised technical professionals, managed multimillion-dollar budgets, led complex projects, operated businesses, consulted with organizations, and participated directly in nonprofit governance. His combination of strategic and operational experience enables him to consider both the long-term direction of an organization and the practical realities involved in execution. Frederick seeks opportunities where his knowledge can help leadership teams strengthen project governance, evaluate technology initiatives, improve organizational processes, manage transformation, and thoughtfully integrate emerging technologies while maintaining focus on people and measurable results.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Frederick’s interests include writing, tennis, literature, travel, and the outdoors. His extensive travels have taken him throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, and destinations across the United States, broadening the personal perspective he brings to his work and relationships. His interest in writing and literature reflects an equally important dimension of his professional identity: communication, curiosity, and lifelong learning. Whether directing technical teams, guiding a complex implementation, participating in governance, developing a creative project, or advising leaders confronting change, Frederick strives to combine thoughtful analysis with practical action and a commitment to creating a positive impact for organizations and the communities around them.
