“Do your best to leave your best footprint to make an impression.”

Dr. Ana Andreazza is a scientist-executive, founder, and board advisor working at the intersection of regenerative medicine, mitochondrial therapeutics, transplantation, and precision health. She is Founder and Scientific Director of the Mitochondrial Innovation Initiative (MITO2i), a strategic University of Toronto initiative, and Professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology and Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, where she also holds the Canada Research Chair in Molecular Pharmacology of Mood Disorders and the Thomas C. Zachos Chair in Mitochondrial Research.

Dr. Andreazza is recognized for building multidisciplinary platforms that connect academia, hospitals, industry, philanthropy, and global collaborators to accelerate innovation and translation. Through MITO2i, she has created an ecosystem focused on moving mitochondrial science from discovery to real-world clinical and commercial impact across brain health, organ preservation, transplantation, and regenerative medicine.

A key differentiator in her profile is her leadership in mitochondrial transplantation, an emerging therapeutic field with applications in tissue repair, inherited mitochondrial disease, organ preservation, and regenerative medicine. She is the Nominated Principal Investigator of MitoRevolution: Mitochondrial Transplantation Transforming Regenerative Medicine—from research to patient care to global impact, a CAD$23,863,672 NFRF-Transformation program designed to advance mitochondrial transplantation toward broad clinical use. Her portfolio also includes related translational programs in lung preservation, ischemia-reperfusion injury, organ-on-chip systems, mitochondrial stabilization, and mitochondrial delivery platforms.

In addition to her executive leadership, Dr. Andreazza brings meaningful governance and advisory experience. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Institute for Personalized Therapeutic Nutrition, on the Scientific Steering Committee of BD², and on advisory boards including The Metabolic Group and NOURISH: Nutrition & Mental Health. Her prior board and advisory experience includes the Board of Directors of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders, advisory work with Massachusetts General Hospital, Mayo Clinic, and Janssen Research & Development.

Dr. Andreazza has authored 220 peer-reviewed publications and has received national recognition including Canada Top 40 Under 40, election to the Royal Society of Canada College of New Scholars, and appointment as Senior Fellow of Massey College. She brings boards a rare combination of scientific authority, founder mindset, cross-sector partnership building, non-dilutive funding success, and strategic insight into emerging therapeutics, platform innovation, and health-sector growth.
