Dan Gee is an executive, consultant, and recognized leader with more than 40 years of experience in the forest products, paper recycling, and environmental services industries. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for integrity, strategic leadership, and the ability to develop strong, lasting business relationships. His work has consistently focused on helping organizations grow while promoting responsible management of natural resources and sustainable business practices.

Dan began his career with Weyerhaeuser Company, where he spent more than 20 years developing sales expertise in building products and paper recycling as a raw material commodity. After six years in lumber and building products sales, he transitioned into the company’s recycling division, gaining valuable experience in sourcing, sales, brokerage, and supply chain management. These early roles provided a solid understanding of both the operational and commercial sides of the business.

During his time at Weyerhaeuser, Dan held positions throughout the Southeast, Midwest, and Pacific Northwest. Working in diverse markets broadened his understanding of regional business environments and allowed him to build an extensive network of industry relationships. His ability to adapt to changing markets while earning the trust of customers, suppliers, and colleagues became one of the defining characteristics of his career.

Following International Paper’s acquisition of Weyerhaeuser’s containerboard business, Dan assumed leadership roles within the newly structured organization. As National Brokerage Manager and later West Region Sales & Brokerage Manager, he led teams responsible for domestic and international business development, brokerage, and recovered paper sales. He managed operations generating more than $100 million in annual revenue while consistently exceeding financial objectives through strategic planning, organizational improvements, and market expansion.

Dan’s leadership philosophy is centered on empowering people while maintaining clear expectations and accountability. He believes successful organizations are built on trust, open communication, and shared goals. Throughout his management career, he developed teams by mentoring employees, recognizing performance, and creating an environment where individuals could contribute, grow professionally, and achieve measurable results.  Additional corporate management skills include succession planning, employee engagement, and Anti-Trust legal training.

In 2017, Dan founded Recovered Paper Consulting, LLC, where he continues to advise companies across the recycling supply chain, including generators, processors, paper mills, and manufacturers. His consulting practice focuses on strategic planning, market analysis, supply chain optimization, contract negotiations, and business development. Drawing on decades of operational and leadership experience, he helps clients identify opportunities, improve performance, and navigate an increasingly dynamic global marketplace.

Soon after establishing his consulting firm, Dan formed a long-term partnership with an industry colleague, Bill Moore, President of Moore & Associates, a nationally recognized consulting firm specializing in the recovered paper industry. For the past nine years, Dan has served as a Senior Associate on a wide variety of client projects. This collaboration has expanded his industry perspective, strengthened his professional network, and kept him actively engaged with emerging market trends, regulatory developments, and evolving customer needs. His extensive industry knowledge, particularly throughout the western United States, has made him a valuable resource for clients across North America.

Dan also brings a global perspective to his work. Through business experience in Canada, Mexico, and China, he has gained firsthand insight into international markets, trade dynamics, and regulatory environments. His research into China’s recovered fiber import policies and his understanding of global recycling markets have enabled him to help organizations anticipate change, manage risk, and identify new opportunities in an increasingly interconnected industry.

Beyond his consulting work, Dan has remained committed to advancing the recycling industry through professional leadership and service. He served six years on the Washington State Recycling Association Board of Directors, including as Co-President, where he helped strengthen industry collaboration, education, and advocacy. In recognition of his contributions to the industry, he was inducted into the Washington State Recycling Association Hall of Fame in 2017.

Dan’s expertise includes being a speaker, industry contributor, and advisor. He enjoys helping organizations understand market trends, solve complex business challenges, and develop practical strategies that support long-term success. Clients value his ability to combine strategic thinking with practical, experience-based recommendations.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Forest Management from the University of Washington, reflecting a lifelong commitment to responsible stewardship of natural resources. Among his professional accomplishments, Dan received Weyerhaeuser’s President’s Award, recognizing outstanding performance and leadership. Earlier in life, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout, an achievement that helped shape the values of service, leadership, and personal responsibility that have guided him throughout his career.

Outside of work, Dan enjoys spending time with his family, playing guitar, backpacking, biking, and woodworking. He and his wife, Marilyn, live in California, where they enjoy being close to family and embracing an active lifestyle. His appreciation for the outdoors continues to reinforce his belief that economic success and environmental responsibility should go hand in hand.

As Dan looks toward the next stage of his career, he is focused on serving organizations through board and advisory roles where his executive leadership, industry expertise, and collaborative approach can contribute to long-term success.
