Currently, Jaenichen serves as Chief Executive Officer of 100 Fathom US, LLC, a consulting company, and Executive Vice President – U.S. Flag at Liberty Global Logistics LLC, where he oversees U.S. government relations, logistics management, and strategic planning for the company’s U.S. Flag vessel operations. Liberty Global Logistics specializes in multi-modal transportation solutions, supporting both commercial and military clients with a fleet of U.S.-flagged Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) vessels, ensuring global supply chain efficiency. Chip was previously the Chief Operating Officer at HMS Global Maritime, Inc where he was responsible for vessel operations and management of ferry services in four states and three U.S. Flag river cruise vessels.
Before transitioning to the private sector, Jaenichen was appointed by President Barack Obama as Maritime Administrator for the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), where he led U.S. Maritime programs, managed national U.S. Flag fleet policies, and strengthened strategic shipping capabilities to enhance national security. His tenure at the Maritime Administration (MARAD) followed a 30-year career in the U.S. Navy, where he retired as a Captain and held critical leadership roles, including Commander of Submarine Squadron 11, Deputy Chief of legislative Legislative Affairs, and Director of Submarine/Nuclear Power Distribution, managing career placement for over 4,500 nuclear-trained officers and enlisted personnel.
Jaenichen’s technical expertise is rooted in his educational background, which includes a master’s degree in engineering/industrial management from Old Dominion University, a bachelor’s degree in ocean engineering from the United States Naval Academy, and advanced nuclear propulsion training from the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC).
