    Published on:

Chip Armbruster stands as a distinguished legal expert and executive, currently serving as the Managing Member at Tomasetti Law, LLC. His extensive experience spans real estate law, estate planning, trust administration, and business law. Chip’s early legal career focused on litigating business and complex contract disputes, as well as numerous family business succession plan disputes. Lessons learned from battles in the courtroom, combined with a desire to spend more time as a father, led him to transition into a transactional practice. Today, he dedicates his efforts to preparing and reviewing contracts, advising Delaware business entities, and assisting local business owners with succession planning and exit strategies. With the assistance of his incredible support staff, he also leads the firm’s estate and trust planning and administration department.

Chip’s adept leadership is evidenced by his successful transition from an Associate to the helm of the firm. He began his legal journey at Tomasetti Law, LLC, joining as an Associate in 2010, and his dedication and expertise paved the way for his promotion to Managing Member in 2020. Based in Fenwick Island, Delaware, Chip now oversees the firm’s operations, ensuring high-quality legal services that address the evolving needs of clients in real estate, estate law, and business planning. His ability to navigate intricate property transactions, estate administration, and business law issues has positioned him as a trusted advisor to individuals, families, and business owners alike.

Prior to his legal career, Chip gained invaluable experience in higher education administration. He served as an Academic Advisor for Student-Athletes at his alma mater, Indiana University Bloomington, before transitioning into IU Athletics’ NCAA compliance office. As an Assistant Compliance Officer at IU Athletics, Chip provided rules education, monitoring, and enforcement of both NCAA and Big Ten Conference eligibility requirements for the department, coaches, and student-athletes. Throughout his professional career at Indiana University, he served as a liaison with the admissions department for incoming student-athletes, aiding students, families, and coaches with admissions and eligibility requirements. In 2006, Chip left Indiana University to become the Director of NCAA Compliance at the University of Delaware.

At some point, he lost a family arm-wrestling match during the holidays with Mr. Tomasetti, which required him to attend law school. This lighthearted yet fateful moment led him to pursue his Juris Doctor at Widener University School of Law, where he further honed his legal expertise.

Chip continues to utilize his master’s in higher education administration, serving as an Educational Due Process Officer for the Delaware Department of Transportation. He also served briefly as an Adjunct Professor at Goldey-Beacom College from August 2013 to May 2015, where he shared his legal and compliance knowledge with students.

Chip’s academic credentials are equally impressive; he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Indiana University Bloomington. His strong educational foundation, combined with his diverse professional background, enables him to approach legal and business challenges with a broad perspective and strategic insight.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Chip has a passion for golf, demonstrating his commitment to both personal and professional excellence.
