For more than four decades, Bruce Stockton has been a defining force in the logistics and transportation industry, leading with a philosophy grounded in integrity, accountability, and operational excellence. His motto reflects not only his approach to leadership but also the way he has built a reputation for precision, safety, and innovation in every organization he has served. From his early days in fleet management to his most previous role as Chief Safety & Operating Officer at Wilson Logistics, Bruce’s career has been marked by a consistent commitment to improving systems, empowering teams, and fostering an enduring culture of safety and efficiency.

Born and raised with an instinct for leadership and problem-solving, Bruce began cultivating his expertise long before the digital transformation of logistics and transportation began. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Missouri Southern State University, he entered the trucking industry at a time when operational systems were still largely manual and safety compliance was an emerging discipline. Over the years, he not only adapted to the evolving landscape but became one of its key architects, influencing practices and processes that have set new standards for efficiency and performance.

Bruce’s early career with CFI—later Con-way Truckload—spanned over 25 years, where he advanced through leadership roles overseeing Safety, Compliance, maintenance and asset management. His tenure was defined by his ability to optimize performance through disciplined planning and hands-on leadership. Under his guidance, fleet operations achieved measurable improvements in cost control, maintenance efficiency, and regulatory compliance. His impact went beyond technical expertise; Bruce developed a reputation for cultivating trust and motivating teams to embrace operational excellence as a shared responsibility rather than a mandate.

In 2011, Bruce launched Stockton Solutions, his own consultancy focused on transportation and fleet solutions. Through this venture, he applied his decades of industry experience to help companies identify cost savings, implement process improvements, and align their operations with best practices in safety and sustainability. His guiding principle was simple but powerful: to save his clients more than he cost them. Stockton Solutions became a trusted partner for several major carriers, demonstrating Bruce’s ability to balance strategic foresight with actionable execution—a hallmark of his leadership style.

Bruce’s consulting success led him to advisory roles with Paul Transportation, Melton Truck Lines, and eventually Wilson Logistics, where he transitioned into executive leadership. As Vice President of Fleet Services and later Chief Safety & Operating Officer, he took on the challenge of integrating safety as a fundamental component of operational performance. Rather than viewing safety as compliance, Bruce transformed it into a core business value, embedding it into every decision from driver onboarding to fleet management. His leadership has been instrumental in elevating Wilson Logistics’ already strong safety culture into one of proactive engagement, accountability, and measurable results.by reducing Wilson’s DOT Crash frequency from a high of .78 to a low and industry best frequency of .22 created by implementing new technology in the fleet that improved performance by  72% through  identifying and coaching out violators and coaching in those willing to improve performance.

His time at XPO Logistics and Kenan Advantage Group further cemented his reputation as a results-oriented executive capable of managing large-scale operations while maintaining focus on continuous improvement. At these organizations, Bruce oversaw national fleets, coordinated cross-functional teams, and led initiatives to reduce costs while improving uptime and service reliability. His tenure coincided with a period of significant industry transformation, where technology, data analytics, and regulatory shifts demanded adaptive leadership. Bruce rose to the occasion by promoting transparency, empowering front-line leaders, and fostering collaboration between departments that historically operated in silos.

Throughout his career, Bruce has been an active voice in shaping the future of the trucking industry. As Chairman of the Board for the Missouri Trucking Association, and as a member of the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) and the Truckload Carriers Association, he has played a vital role in advocacy, education, and collaboration across the sector. His participation in these organizations reflects a commitment not only to his companies but to the broader community of professionals who move America’s freight safely and efficiently every day. He is known among peers for his balanced perspective—strategically forward-thinking yet deeply grounded in the operational realities of drivers and fleet managers.

At the heart of Bruce’s leadership is a focus on people. He believes that no process or system can succeed without the engagement and empowerment of the individuals who make it work. This belief has driven his emphasis on mentorship, training, and professional development throughout his career. Whether guiding an executive team or supporting drivers in the field, Bruce approaches every interaction with authenticity and respect, fostering environments where accountability and collaboration thrive. His leadership style encourages innovation while preserving the human element that is often lost in corporate scale.

Bruce’s international exposure, particularly through collaborations with the North American Council for Freight Efficiency, has broadened his perspective on global logistics and sustainability practices. While his career has primarily focused on domestic operations, his involvement in cross-border initiatives demonstrates his ability to bridge regional and international standards in fleet performance and environmental stewardship. This global awareness complements his deep operational experience, positioning him as a forward-thinking executive capable of guiding organizations through the challenges of modernization and sustainability in the transportation sector.

Even after more than 40 years in the industry, Bruce remains motivated by the same passion that first brought him into trucking: the drive to make things better, safer, and more efficient. His career stands as a testament to the impact one leader can have when vision and execution align. Whether steering corporate operations, advising on fleet strategy, or contributing to industry thought leadership, Bruce continues to exemplify the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and performance.
