Brad Ritti: Turning Bold Ideas Into Experiences That Perform, Endure, and Inspire

Published on:

“Words Matter — We Should Always Be Strategically Defensive.”

Brad Ritti is a founder, chief executive, and entertainment technology leader whose career has been defined by turning ambitious creative ideas into engineered, safe, and commercially viable experiences. With more than 25 years of professional experience, Brad has developed a distinctive perspective at the intersection of technology, entertainment, operations, leadership, and risk management. As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Innovated Studios, he combines the practical judgment of an operator with the vision of an entrepreneur, leading complex initiatives from initial concept and commercial strategy through fabrication, systems integration, and final commissioning. His career reflects a consistent belief that innovation delivers its greatest value when creativity is supported by disciplined execution, accountability, and a clear understanding of risk.

Brad’s professional journey was shaped significantly by more than 16 years at Universal Orlando Resort, where he advanced from frontline and seasonal entertainment positions into senior technical leadership. Beginning with hands-on roles in entertainment operations, he steadily assumed greater responsibility across stage management, technical entertainment, pyrotechnics, special effects, and emerging show technologies. This progression gave him an unusually comprehensive understanding of how world-class entertainment experiences are conceived, built, operated, and sustained. By the time he became Assistant Director of Technical Entertainment, Brad was helping lead the design, installation, and commissioning of attractions, live shows, and major resort-wide entertainment programs experienced by millions of guests.

His years at Universal also established a foundation in safety, compliance, and operational risk that continues to influence his leadership philosophy. Brad managed special effects and pyrotechnics operations governed by ATF requirements and NFPA standards, where documentation, preparation, and disciplined execution were essential. He led multidisciplinary teams, helped restructure technical management functions, supported creative development, and evaluated emerging technologies for practical application within sophisticated entertainment environments. His experience taught him to look beyond whether an idea is exciting or technologically possible and ask the questions that ultimately determine success: Is it safe? Is it scalable? Who is accountable? What happens if it fails? And how can the organization manage that risk before it becomes a problem?

Brad expanded this perspective as Research and Development Director at Birket Engineering, a control systems integrator specializing in life-safety ride and show control technology used within major theme parks around the world. Working where engineering rigor, regulatory requirements, and commercial realities converge strengthened his understanding of safety-critical systems and product development. As Product Manager for the Firelinx division, he also gained direct experience balancing technical innovation with product strategy and market viability. The role reinforced a principle that has remained central throughout his career: technology should solve meaningful problems and produce measurable value rather than simply exist for innovation’s sake.

In 2018, Brad brought these experiences together by founding Innovated Studios in Orlando, Florida. Under his leadership, the company evolved from a single-operator consultancy into a full-service experience technology organization with a 4,200-square-foot design office and a 17,000-square-foot production warehouse. Innovated Studios brings together capabilities including custom fabrication, interactive software, show control, special effects, AR/VR, projection mapping, rapid prototyping, and systems integration. The company has supported global entertainment and destination brands, including work associated with organizations such as Netflix, Nintendo, Universal, and Walt Disney Parks, helping transform creative concepts into immersive experiences across theme parks, professional sports venues, and branded environments.

As Founder and CEO, Brad’s responsibilities extend well beyond technology and creative direction. He owns the realities of operating and scaling a project-based enterprise: revenue, gross margin, cash flow, financing strategy, capital requirements, contract posture, client relationships, and delivery accountability. He has managed long sales cycles and working-capital-intensive programs while navigating fixed-price scope, vendor relationships, insurance requirements, surety considerations, and enterprise agreements. This combination of entrepreneurial responsibility and technical depth gives Brad a board-level perspective grounded in firsthand accountability. He understands that strategy ultimately has to survive contact with budgets, timelines, people, contracts, customers, and execution.

Technology remains one of Brad’s defining areas of expertise, particularly where emerging platforms can improve operational performance or create new forms of engagement. His experience encompasses show and ride control, industrial automation, interactive technology, RFID-enabled experiences, AR/VR, projection mapping, computer vision, software and game development, fabrication, and rapid prototyping. More recently, he has championed the practical adoption of artificial intelligence and automation across business functions such as estimating, documentation, and business development. His approach to AI is grounded in measurable outcomes, thoughtful build-versus-buy decisions, integration risk, and organizational readiness rather than novelty. He brings the same analytical discipline to emerging technology that he developed while working with safety-critical entertainment systems.

Brad’s professional reach is also international. His work has involved enterprise clients and counterparties across the United States and markets including Japan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East, providing him with exposure to the complexities of global delivery, logistics, stakeholder expectations, and cross-cultural business relationships. His preferred arena remains themed and experiential entertainment, while his experience is equally relevant to technology companies, hardware-software businesses, hospitality and attractions operators, and growth-stage organizations facing complex operational or technological transitions. He is particularly well positioned to contribute where innovation, safety, regulation, customer experience, and disciplined execution intersect.

Beyond his operating career, Brad has established a growing voice within the broader business and entertainment community. He is a member and published contributor to the Forbes Business Council and has contributed to the Rolling Stone Culture Council, sharing perspectives on leadership, innovation, and the evolving experience economy. He is also connected to the global themed entertainment community through the Themed Entertainment Association. His work and Innovated Studios have received industry visibility, including recognition within Central Florida’s immersive technology ecosystem. These platforms reflect Brad’s ability not only to develop and implement ideas, but also to articulate the lessons behind them and contribute thoughtfully to conversations about leadership and emerging technology.

Brad is now interested in bringing this experience into advisory and fiduciary board environments where his operator’s perspective can help organizations navigate growth, complexity, technology adoption, and risk. He is especially valuable to companies moving into safety-critical or regulated environments, scaling operational capabilities, evaluating emerging technologies, or building experience-led strategies. His background lends itself naturally to audit and risk, technology and innovation, and compensation committee discussions. Rather than approaching governance as an abstract exercise, Brad evaluates issues through the lens of someone who has personally carried responsibility for people, capital, margins, contracts, compliance, client expectations, and organizational outcomes.

At the center of Brad’s leadership philosophy is a deceptively simple conviction: words matter. He believes communication creates expectations, establishes accountability, shapes culture, and can either expose or conceal risk. His related philosophy of being “strategically defensive” is not about avoiding bold decisions; it is about anticipating consequences, documenting assumptions, asking difficult questions early, and protecting an organization’s ability to execute successfully. That mindset has been refined through decades spent in environments where creativity must coexist with engineering precision and where leaders are expected to surface problems before they become failures.

Brad’s motivation for board service is ultimately rooted in impact. He sees board leadership as an opportunity to extend the value of his experience beyond his own organization, helping executives and companies make stronger decisions, recognize risks earlier, adopt technology more intelligently, and build systems capable of sustainable growth. His interests in travel and sports complement a career built around experiences, people, and environments that bring audiences together. Whether working with an emerging company or an established enterprise, Brad brings curiosity, practical judgment, analytical thinking, and a genuine desire to help organizations become stronger.
