For more than three decades, Andy Anderson has built a distinguished career at the intersection of media, advertising, entertainment, and commercial leadership, earning a reputation as one of the industry’s most accomplished revenue executives. His career reflects a rare combination of strategic vision, entrepreneurial thinking, and operational discipline that has consistently transformed organizations, expanded market opportunities, and delivered sustainable growth. Throughout his professional journey, Andy has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to helping organizations evolve with changing consumer behaviors while creating innovative revenue models that position businesses for long-term success. His leadership philosophy is rooted in collaboration, accountability, continuous innovation, and building meaningful relationships that generate lasting enterprise value.
Most recently, Andy served as Chief Revenue Officer of American Urban Radio Networks (AURN), one of the nation’s largest African American-owned audio networks. In this executive leadership role, he directed enterprise-wide revenue strategy across broadcast radio, digital audio, streaming platforms, podcasts, and programmatic advertising while overseeing commercialization for a network of more than 8,000 affiliated radio stations reaching over 48 million weekly listeners. During his tenure, Andy helped lead an organizational transformation that more than doubled company revenue over a five-year period while simultaneously increasing broadcast market share from 1.7 percent to 4.0 percent during a time when the broader network radio industry was experiencing sustained decline. His ability to identify emerging market opportunities, diversify revenue streams, and position the organization for future growth established AURN as an industry leader in commercial innovation.
Andy’s remarkable career at AURN spans more than twenty-three years and reflects a consistent pattern of exceptional performance and earned advancement. Beginning as Senior Director of Partnership Marketing, he steadily progressed through Executive Sales Director, Vice President of Sales for the Eastern Region, President of Sales, and ultimately Chief Revenue Officer. Each promotion represented increasing responsibility for enterprise growth, organizational leadership, and strategic direction. Throughout this progression, Andy became known for developing high-performing commercial organizations, mentoring future leaders, and creating cultures centered on accountability, collaboration, and measurable results. His leadership extended beyond traditional broadcasting as he championed the launch of new digital business initiatives including podcast monetization, gaming, streaming audio, original content, and programmatic advertising, positioning the company well ahead of industry trends.
One of Andy’s greatest strengths is his ability to build trusted relationships across every level of business. Over the course of his career, he has partnered with Fortune 500 companies including Procter & Gamble, General Motors, Ford, and Siemens while cultivating long-standing relationships with leading advertising agencies such as Publicis, WPP/GroupM, Dentsu/Carat, Horizon Media, and Apex Exchange. His expertise extends beyond sales to encompass strategic partnerships, enterprise negotiations, integrated marketing, revenue forecasting, organizational planning, and business development. Clients and colleagues alike recognize his unique ability to align commercial strategy with corporate objectives while developing innovative solutions that create mutual value for stakeholders.
Before joining AURN, Andy established himself as a respected executive within the entertainment and publishing industries. As Director of Urban and Canadian Advertising for Billboard Magazine, he became the first African American Advertising Director in the publication’s history. During his tenure, he co-created the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Conference & Awards, an event that grew into one of the music industry’s premier conferences and awards programs. His leadership in sponsorship development generated approximately ninety percent of the conference’s sponsorship revenue while expanding Billboard’s influence throughout the music and entertainment industries. Earlier in his career, Andy co-founded Peck & Anderson Entertainment Marketing Group, where he developed strategic marketing campaigns for recording artists and entertainment brands. He also served in executive leadership roles with Rap Sheet Newspaper and Black Radio Exclusive Magazine, further establishing his reputation as a creative commercial strategist capable of building influential brands and meaningful industry partnerships.
Beyond his executive accomplishments, Andy has remained deeply engaged in advancing the media and audio industries through leadership and service. He served on Nielsen Audio’s prestigious Audio Advisory Council, representing the approximately $1.5 billion network radio industry while advising senior executives on audience measurement, advertising effectiveness, and marketplace strategy. As a member of the Audio Alliance Executive Committee, he collaborated with fellow industry leaders to increase awareness of audio advertising’s value and return on investment. These appointments reflect the confidence that peers and industry stakeholders place in Andy’s strategic insight, business judgment, and ability to help shape the future of an evolving industry. His international experience working throughout France, Canada, and Mexico, along with speaking engagements including presentations in France, further broaden his perspective and strengthen his ability to navigate global business relationships.
Throughout more than forty years of professional experience, Andy has remained committed to continuous learning, professional growth, and leadership development. While completing his senior year at Howard University, where he is four classes away from earning his BA, Andy was recruited in December 1984 by Libbey Owens Ford Company, a Fortune 500 automotive and architectural glass manufacturer, to join its Advanced Flying Marketing team. In this role, he spent five months traveling from Bangor, Maine, to Northern Virginia conducting market research before being relocated to Los Angeles and promoted to Territory Account Manager. He later completed the Executive Development Program for Radio Broadcasters at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Recognizing the growing importance of emerging technologies, Andy has also earned certifications in artificial intelligence, including ChatGPT, AI for Business Operations, and Claude. His continued investment in learning reflects the mindset that has defined his executive career: embracing change, anticipating market shifts, and continually expanding his capabilities to prepare organizations for future opportunities.
Today, Andy is actively seeking opportunities to serve on corporate and advisory boards where he can leverage decades of executive leadership experience to help organizations navigate growth, innovation, and strategic transformation. Financially secure and motivated by a genuine passion for business, he views board service as an opportunity to remain intellectually engaged while contributing meaningful guidance to executive leadership teams. His experience leading large commercial organizations, developing new revenue platforms, expanding digital capabilities, managing complex stakeholder relationships, and driving organizational transformation uniquely positions him to provide valuable governance, strategic oversight, and executive counsel across a broad range of industries. While his background is deeply rooted in media and entertainment, Andy’s expertise in growth strategy, revenue optimization, leadership development, and business transformation translates effectively across virtually every sector.
Andy built an impressive foundation in sales leadership within the industrial and commercial sector. After his time with LOF, he was recruited by N.A. Philips Lighting as the Territory Manager, where he grew regional revenue from $2 million to more than $5.5 million, ranked sixth among 300 sales representatives in less than two years, and earned the prestigious President Award. He was subsequently recruited by competitor Osram, a division of Siemens, as a Western Region Sales Engineer before transitioning into the media industry.
