Deepak Kamath: Engineering Innovation, Advancing Aviation, Safety, Performance and Affordability

Throughout nearly five decades in aerospace, I have had the privilege of contributing to aircraft propulsion, engine controls, certification and safety, power generation, advanced technologies, and the development of engineering and regulatory standards. My career across GE Aviation, the Federal Aviation Administration, and industry standards organizations has given me the opportunity to work with exceptional teams, solve complex technical challenges, and contribute to programs spanning commercial aviation, military applications, electric and hybrid propulsion, and emerging eVTOL technologies. As I continue to explore opportunities to contribute through board and advisory service, I look forward to sharing the experience and perspective I have gained while continuing to learn from the organizations and leaders shaping the future. Here is my biography.

The Future of Vertical Aviation Training -From Full-Flight Simulators to Virtual Reality

As the rotorcraft industry evolves with the rise of eVTOL aircraft and urban air mobility, pilot training is undergoing a major transformation. Once dominated by expensive, stationary Level D simulators, the sector is now embracing immersive virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) solutions. These cutting-edge technologies are not only making pilot training more cost-effective and scalable but also delivering powerful learning outcomes through realistic, repeatable simulations. While Level D systems still hold their place in high-fidelity assessments, VR is quickly gaining ground as a vital tool for early-stage and recurrent training—marking a shift toward a more accessible, hybrid future in vertical aviation.
