“Driving Strategic Growth Through Operational Excellence”
With nearly four decades of distinguished experience in public accounting and regulatory oversight, Steve Blowers stands out as a transformative executive leader in the fields of complex accounting, SEC compliance, capital formation, and cross-industry financial strategy. His career includes senior roles at Ernst & Young (EY), a key appointment as an SEC Accounting Fellow, and advisory relationships with private enterprises and nonprofits. Steve also served one term on the AICPA’s Professional Ethics Committee, underscoring his commitment to the highest standards of professional conduct.
Steve began his professional journey in EY’s Columbus, Ohio office, serving clients across a range of sectors including manufacturing and commercial industries. His early international experience included a secondment to EY’s Birmingham, England office, offering him an invaluable global business perspective. During his time at the SEC, Steve developed deep technical proficiency across several complex topics and industries.
Upon returning to EY’s national office from the SEC staff, Steve became a senior member of the firm’s SEC Group, advising on high-profile transactions and precedent-setting events. He played a central role in clearing accounting treatments for major mergers, including that of two of the world’s largest energy companies, and served as the U.S. GAAP concurring partner prior to the adoption of IFRS for the combined entity. He also held the concurring partner role for a separate global energy company, advising on critical accounting and auditing matters over a span of approximately five years. In the technology sector, Steve supported clients navigating complex, first-of-their-kind transactions, often representing them in discussions with the SEC staff.
In the private equity domain, Steve served as EY’s Chief Technical Accounting and Auditing Partner for its Transaction Group for roughly two years. In this role, he supported both audit and advisory clients. He also held the position of EY Vice Chair of Independence, where he oversaw firm-wide assessments on permissible services.
Notably, Steve served as an expert witness for a Big Four accounting firm on a regulatory matter, further demonstrating his recognized authority in accounting standards and regulatory compliance.
Steve is also a published author and thought leader. He co-authored two books published by Wiley on raising capital in the U.S. and frequently consulted with EY clients on raising capital in both public and private markets. His speaking experience includes presenting at the National AICPA Conference on SEC Regulatory Matters during his SEC fellowship, leading breakout sessions at EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year Conference on raising capital, and delivering numerous internal firm presentations throughout his career.
Post-retirement, Steve continues to contribute his expertise through advisory roles with two privately held companies, including one with over $5 billion in assets. In one of these roles, he acted in a de facto controller capacity for 18 months, supporting the COO and CFO in stabilizing and advancing financial operations.
Steve’s international experience spans major engagements in the UK, Germany, and Switzerland, adding global depth to his strategic advisory perspective. He has routinely collaborated with C-suite executives and audit committees throughout his career.
Steve is also dedicated to community involvement. He served a three-year term (2022–2025) as Treasurer and Board of Governors member for a nonprofit with over $20 million in annual revenue and more than $50 million in assets.
Outside of his professional life, Steve is an avid golfer who embraces the sport’s values—strategy, focus, and perseverance—as central to his personal and professional ethos. He and his wife have been married for nearly 44 years.
