Upon graduation, Sam joined Intel Corporation, one of the most recognizable names in the technology sector. There, he quickly distinguished himself in roles of increasing responsibility over 12 years. Whether managing the global financial close process, leading acquisition integrations, or optimizing legal entity structures for tax efficiency, Sam approached each task with analytical rigor and a commitment to process excellence.
At Intel, Sam progressed from Accountant to Global Close and Reporting Manager, overseeing a global team of 2 shared service centers responsible all General Accounting functions as well as consolidating the financial results of non-integrated subsidiaries with over $2.5 billion in annual revenues. He became a go-to leader for acquisition accounting and was instrumental in driving efficiency across more than 50 mergers and acquisitions. His leadership in system replatforming efforts and system upgrades produced significant cost and time savings, illustrating his keen ability to align finance functions with broader enterprise goals. Sam’s influence wasn’t limited to spreadsheets and systems—he also cultivated a strong talent pipeline, mentoring emerging professionals and championing inclusive, high-functioning teams.
In 2016, Sam transitioned to Itron, Inc., a leading technology company focused on resource management. Over the past nine years, he has served in several senior finance roles, each with increasing scope and complexity. As Senior Manager of North America Controllership and Internal Reporting, he managed a 10-person team responsible for consolidated monthly close cycles and accounting compliance. His tenure was marked by the successful implementation of Oracle’s cloud-based EPM suite—completed on time and within budget—a testament to his project management and change leadership capabilities.
Sam later assumed the role of Senior Manager of External Reporting, where he led the production of critical SEC filings, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and 8-Ks. He became the central authority on Itron’s accounting policies and technical accounting guidance, offering insights that shaped business decisions across the enterprise. Sam also oversaw Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and maintained transparent, audit-ready reporting practices—an area where his CPA credentials and extensive audit experience proved invaluable.
Today, Sam serves as the Senior Manager of Corporate FP&A at Itron, a strategic role that requires close collaboration with C-suite executives and the Board of Directors. He leads the global finance team through complex cycles of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Under his leadership, the team has not only improved reporting accuracy and speed but also fostered a culture of accountability and career development.
