    Ryan McLeod is a highly experienced and dynamic executive with a distinguished career spanning over two decades in finance, operations, and leadership roles. As the President of McLeod Consulting, a self-employed consultancy established in March 2023, Ryan utilizes his extensive expertise to provide strategic financial guidance and operational excellence to a diverse range of clients. Currently, Ryan is finalizing the implementation of a $10 Billion financial settlement related to Indigenous Treaty violations that occurred by the Federal and Provincial governments in Canada against 21 First Nations in the Robinson Huron Treaty. Ryan also provides financial advisory services towards impact benefit agreements (IBA), business partnerships, trust development and implementation for a variety of First Nations in Ontario.

    Prior to founding McLeod Consulting, Ryan made significant contributions as the Chief Financial Officer at Batchewana First Nation from October 2022 to October 2023. In this role, he managed an annual budget exceeding $30 million, ensuring adherence to financial and legal requirements while providing vital policy advice to the Council. Ryan’s ability to compare actual performance with budget forecasts and provide insightful reports facilitated sound financial control and strategic decision-making. His tenure at Batchewana First Nation also involved developing capital expenditure plans and participating in various associations to stay abreast of industry trends and best practices. Ryan was instrumental in aligning business related assets and partnerships with the direction of the First Nation government.

    Ryan’s career also includes a notable tenure as the Director of Finance at Sagamok Anishnawbek from June 2020 to October 2022. Here, he was responsible for overseeing the preparation of the annual budget, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, and offering expert financial advice for long-range planning. His role required collaboration with senior managers and external service providers, demonstrating his ability to manage complex financial operations and provide strategic input on significant projects and policies.

    In addition to his financial expertise, Ryan has a strong background in airline management and operations. He served as the Hub Manager at Porter Airlines Inc. from August 2019 to June 2020, where he led passenger service and ramp functions, managed catering operations, and maintained effective labor union relationships. His earlier roles at Porter Airlines, including Station Manager and Acting Manager of Passenger Service, further highlight his comprehensive experience in managing airline operations and ensuring high standards of service delivery.

    Prior to working for Porter Airlines Ryan owned and operated an industrial and commercial construction and electrical company for 6 years. Ryan has significant project management experience and the growth of small businesses into medium enterprises.

    Ryan’s leadership extends beyond the corporate sector. As the Vice President Finance for the Ontario Division of the Canadian Ski Patrol since April 2014, he has been instrumental in managing financial operations and supporting the organization’s mission. Additionally, his service as an Auxiliary Staff Sergeant and Acting 2IC of the Northeast Region with the Ontario Provincial Police since July 2010 underscores his commitment to public service and his ability to handle high-stakes situations with professionalism and integrity. Ryan also serves as the Treasurer for the Algoma Nurse Practitioner clinic of Algoma.

    A dedicated educator, Ryan also served as a Sessional Lecturer at Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology from January 2022 to August 2022, sharing his knowledge and expertise with the next generation of professionals.
