Prior to founding McLeod Consulting, Ryan made significant contributions as the Chief Financial Officer at Batchewana First Nation from October 2022 to October 2023. In this role, he managed an annual budget exceeding $30 million, ensuring adherence to financial and legal requirements while providing vital policy advice to the Council. Ryan’s ability to compare actual performance with budget forecasts and provide insightful reports facilitated sound financial control and strategic decision-making. His tenure at Batchewana First Nation also involved developing capital expenditure plans and participating in various associations to stay abreast of industry trends and best practices. Ryan was instrumental in aligning business related assets and partnerships with the direction of the First Nation government.
Ryan’s career also includes a notable tenure as the Director of Finance at Sagamok Anishnawbek from June 2020 to October 2022. Here, he was responsible for overseeing the preparation of the annual budget, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, and offering expert financial advice for long-range planning.
