During this time, he laid the groundwork for many of the digital and operational capabilities that would become foundational to the organization’s future success including buidling back office support for the companies most succesful fund offerings that raised $8 billion in assets.

Following Van Kampen’s acquisition by Morgan Stanley in 1996, Rick’s influence only expanded. Over a span of nearly 15 years, he held a series of senior roles at Morgan Stanley Investment Management, including Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer across multiple business units. He led transformative programs that encompassed everything from wholesale platform modernization to strategic data initiatives and global CRM integration. Rick’s role in the $1.5 billion divestiture of Morgan Stanley’s Retail Mutual Fund business to INVESCO underscored his talent for executing high-stakes transactions under demanding timelines. Whether outsourcing core technology infrastructure or consolidating global operations, Rick consistently delivered strategic outcomes aligned with enterprise goals.

At J.P. Morgan Chase, Rick was tapped to lead Asset Wealth Management’s Retirment Plan Services which was a premier provider of 401K Plan Recordkeeping for some of the US largest companies with over two million particiapants.  As the Chief Technology Director was responsible for building and delivering differentiating digital platforms and technical efficienies that delivered first time profitability for the business.  Rick than took on additional responsibilites in leading it’s Enterprise Content and Client Reporting divisions. As Managing Director, he engineered a sweeping overhaul of ECM capabilities, implementing a cloud-ready microservices architecture that improved compliance, efficiency, and client satisfaction. Under his stewardship, the operating budget was reduced by over 50%, and the group was honored with a Waters American Financial Technology Award for Best Compliance Initiative. Rick also played a vital leadership role in the post-divestiture transition of the Retirement Plan Services (RPS) unit, ensuring the continuity of operations and successful migration of client platforms to Great West Financial

Rick’s tenure at SS&C Technologies further highlights his impact at the highest levels of strategic execution. As Chief Information Officer for the Financial Services Group, he managed a $100 million tech budget and led a global team of over 900. His initiatives in platform modernization, cost optimization, and cloud migration significantly improved margins—from 20% to 40% year over year. Notably, Rick championed diversity and talent development across global centers in Asia and North America, with a focus on inclusive hiring and leadership development. His efforts also brought about the implementation of an open-source API management platform that saved the company $1.5 million annually.

In his final role at SS&C Technologies as Global Head of Technology Modernization, Rick undertook the design and deployment of a next-generation, cloud-native global record-keeping platform.
