“No is never the answer—there is always a solution.”

With nearly four decades of experience navigating the intricate world of global asset servicing, Kenneth Martin has solidified his reputation as a transformative executive, dynamic problem solver, and an architect of operational excellence. Known for building performance-driven teams and re-engineering legacy systems, he thrives in high-stakes environments where precision, innovation, and strategic foresight are paramount. His hallmark is the ability to fuse financial acuity with forward-thinking leadership, producing results that consistently exceed expectations.

Kenneth’s professional journey began in the UK, where he took on progressively senior roles in fund accounting, transfer agency, and oversight with institutions such as Henderson Administration. There, he spearheaded the accounting functions for dozens of funds and staff while simultaneously managing complex outsourcing transitions. These early roles served as a crucible in which Kenneth honed his command of fund operations and team leadership, ultimately shaping the foundation of his executive identity.

In the late 1990s, Kenneth joined Citigroup, a career-defining move that marked the start of his ascent to global leadership. At Citigroup, he held several pivotal roles across the UK, Luxembourg, and the U.S., including Vice President of Mutual Fund Services and Director of Risk Management & Control. Whether managing office re-organizations across Europe or leading internal control transformations, he consistently demonstrated an ability to navigate regulatory environments, stabilize volatile operational landscapes, and drive efficiencies that delivered measurable value. His oversight of Citigroup Asset Management’s French operations was particularly notable—successfully executing its closure post the advent of the Euro while mitigating reputational and financial risks.

Kenneth’s tenure at Legg Mason from 2005 to 2014 was equally impressive. Rising to the position of Managing Director and Head of Global Oversight, he wielded responsibility over a global fiduciary platform spanning eight fund domiciles. Under his guidance, over 385,000 NAVs were calculated annually with an astounding 99.8%+ accuracy rate. He rationalized services, led aggressive cost-reduction strategies saving millions, and established robust KPIs across service providers. His strategic outlook, paired with operational discipline, played a vital role in reinforcing Legg Mason’s standing in both established and emerging markets. He was instrumental in establishing oversight protocols for fund structures across Asia and Europe, demonstrating an unparalleled fluency in cross-border fund governance.

Following his time at Legg Mason, Kenneth brought his expertise to RBC (Royal Bank of Canada), where he served as Director of Product across ETF, Loan Administration, and Fund Accounting domains from 2015 to 2023. At RBC, he blended product management with deep operational insight, crafting end-to-end solutions in global ETF services, private capital analytics, and onshore servicing strategies. His initiative to leverage ULTUMUS for ETF data and portfolio composition and his leadership in integrating KPMG’s analytic tools for enhanced tax reporting illustrated his ability to align technical capabilities with client-facing deliverables. These enhancements significantly enriched RBC’s asset servicing landscape and contributed to its competitive positioning.

As a recognized thought leader, Kenneth has lent his voice to global forums and panels, including the International Transfer Agency Summit in Luxembourg, BNY Mellon’s Tax & Regulatory Client Forum, Global Custodian ETF Panel discussions and RBC’s Canadian Centre of Influence roadshows. His insights have also influenced industry standards via contributions to committees such as the ICI International Operations Advisory Committee and the Canadian ETF Association Operating Committee. His advocacy for governance, compliance, and fiduciary responsibility continues to resonate across multiple boards and committees.

Kenneth’s expertise is underscored by his command of critical systems and platforms including Multifonds, Charles River, TA 2000, ULTUMUS’ ETF PCF calculation platform and Wall Street Office. He maintains deep relationships with industry-leading vendors such as CGI, Multifonds, IHS Markit, ULTUMUS and Fund X. With an eye always on transformation, he has led numerous RFP processes and contract renegotiations, cumulatively saving over $4M annually and driving meaningful service improvements.

While his professional accomplishments are extensive, Kenneth remains grounded in personal values of mentorship, curiosity, and contribution. He has mentored rising talent throughout his career and now seeks opportunities that allow him to give back through board service. His passion lies in empowering the next generation of leaders and applying his cross-industry knowledge to support mission-driven organizations, particularly in the non-profit and mutual fund sectors.

Kenneth’s international exposure—having worked extensively in the United States, Canada, the UK Luxembourg, France,  together with supporting  fund administration operations in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia—equips him with a rare global perspective. This, coupled with his technical depth and leadership prowess, makes him an invaluable strategic partner to any board or executive team. He is a visionary who understands the intricacies of asset servicing yet always keeps his eyes fixed on broader enterprise goals.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Kenneth enjoys restoring his historic home, reading, and traveling—activities that reflect his appreciation for both heritage and exploration. He holds a Higher National Diploma in Business Studies from the University of South Wales and began his academic journey at Cricklade College in Andover.
