Jon’s journey at Stryker began in 1995 as a Design Engineer for Stryker Instruments in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Over the years, his passion for innovation and strategic vision propelled him through numerous leadership roles across multiple divisions and geographies. After excelling as a Senior Design Engineer, Jon expanded his horizons internationally, serving as a Project Engineer in Freiburg, Germany, where he led the development of a mandible implant locking system and a resorbable plating solution for pediatrics.
Returning to Kalamazoo in 2003, Jon transitioned into marketing and R&D leadership roles within the Craniomaxillofacial Division. He later relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, to join Stryker Development, a new division focused on disruptive technologies and partnerships with startups. Here, Jon co-developed breakthrough adhesive technologies, securing global patent protection that underscores his technical ingenuity and commitment to innovation.
In 2011, Jon returned to Kalamazoo to assume leadership roles within the Instruments Division, where he eventually became Vice President of R&D. In the Instruments Division, Jon and his team spearheaded the launch of multiple innovative products, including new powertool platforms, bone milling devices, ultrasonic aspirators, radiofrequency generators, and ENT endoscopic shavers. These groundbreaking advancements not only expanded Stryker’s product portfolio but also addressed critical needs in the medical field, reinforcing the company’s reputation for delivering cutting-edge solutions to improve patient care.
Currently, Jon leads the Trauma & Extremities Division, where he spearheaded the integration of Wright Medical, the largest acquisition in Stryker’s history. Under his leadership, Jon and his teams have launched multiple new titanium implant platforms and digital solutions for pre-operative surgical planning and intra-operative efficiency. His leadership in global R&D continues to foster innovation, optimize operational efficiency, and drive the development of cutting-edge medical solutions. In addition to his divisional responsibilities, Jon serves as co-chair of Stryker’s R&D Council, championing excellence across the company’s global R&D functions.
Jon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University, where he now chairs the Engineering Advisory Board. He is also an Executive Sponsor of Stryker’s Emerging Professionals employee resource group, reflecting his dedication to mentoring the next generation of industry leaders.
