Hunter Gary is a seasoned, strategic, driven, and motivated Executive Operations Leader with in-depth experience in private equity portfolio company oversight and operational value enhancement. He utilizes solid experience in multiple business sectors and industries, including automotive, energy, government, hospitality, manufacturing, metals, outsourcing, pharmaceutical, private equity, real estate, retail, and telecom. He is a seasoned member of the Board of Directors, having served on over 20 company boards as well as chaired several committees which qualifies him to advise future boards on a wide range of matters.
Most recently, Hunter served as Senior Managing Director for Icahn Enterprises L.P. During his 14-year tenure, he worked directly with the C-suite to monitor portfolio operations. He led all non-investment activities, including internal operations and oversight of the firm’s insurance, human resources, technology, and administrative office teams. He held direct oversight for all profit & loss, including general management of the firm’s entire real estate portfolio. Hunter directed management and oversight of acquisitions, due diligence, merger integration, and divestitures.
Prior to his time at Icahn Enterprises L.P, Hunter served as the Chief Operating Officer for Icahn Sourcing LLC. In this role, he led procurement activities for a diverse buying group, with a focus on identifying cost efficiencies, reducing SG&A, and managing strategic sourcing projects. He led several outsourcing and offshoring initiatives at multiple portfolio companies and oversaw multiple supply chain optimization programs.
Earlier in his career, Hunter served as Managing Director at Kaufhof Warenhaus AG in Germany where he established technology leadership in the retail sector, receiving several prestigious awards for his contributions to innovation and implementation of thousands of multimedia systems across Europe.
Hunter holds a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University, where he graduated with senior honors. He also earned a Certificate of Executive Development from Columbia Graduate School and completed post-graduate courses at MIT and NYU.
