George R. Goldhoff: Leading with Purpose, Elevating Performance, and Inspiring People to Achieve Their Highest Potential

Published on:

George R. Goldhoff is an accomplished executive whose career spans more than three decades at the forefront of hospitality, gaming, entertainment, and consumer-facing enterprises. Known for his steady leadership, strategic discipline, and ability to build high-performance cultures, he has shaped some of the most iconic brands in North America. His journey is defined by a rare combination of operational mastery, financial acumen, executive team development, and a deep personal commitment to elevating both organizations and the communities they serve.

From the earliest days of his career in New York City’s most prestigious hospitality landmarks, George distinguished himself through his passion for guest experience and uncompromising standards. At The Plaza Hotel, he quickly rose through the ranks of leadership by transforming high-volume, high-expectation dining environments into world-class operations. His tenure at The Rainbow Room further distinguished him as a standout leader in the industry, earning the coveted New York Times Three-Star rating and direct praise from hospitality icon Joe Baum, who described him as “the best Maître d’ he has ever had.” These formative years established George’s reputation as a leader who could elevate both people and performance simultaneously.

George’s career reached new heights when he joined MGM Resorts International, where he spent more than 13 years reshaping large-scale resort, food and beverage, and gaming operations. At the legendary Bellagio, he played a pivotal role in launching one of the world’s most complex and influential food and beverage programs, overseeing more than 4,000 employees and multiple Michelin-starred venues. His strategic oversight, concept-development expertise, and deep understanding of the guest experience reshaped industry expectations and contributed to the global evolution of integrated-resort dining.

As Vice President of Food and Beverage at Beau Rivage, George led the complete rebuild of the property following Hurricane Katrina—a massive undertaking that required extraordinary resilience, operational command, and human-centered leadership. He successfully retained all executive leaders through a high-pressure reopening and drove significant revenue and EBITDA growth, ultimately achieving the highest performance margins in the resort’s history. Later, as General Manager at MGM’s Gold Strike, he continued to break performance barriers by delivering a 45% increase in EBITDA during economically challenging years, once again setting a new operational benchmark.

George’s leadership excellence attracted the attention of ONEX/ONCAP, a premier private equity firm that selected him to run two portfolio companies in Canada. As President and CEO of Pure Canadian Gaming, he led a high-impact transformation focused on operational discipline, executive restructuring, marketing strategy, and data-driven decision-making. Under his leadership, the company delivered consistent annual equity returns of 25%, achieved the highest EBITDA margins in the market, and earned him recognition as one of Canada’s top-rated CEOs on Glassdoor. His contributions to Chatters Hair and Beauty, an ONEX portfolio company, further demonstrated his strategic versatility across multiple consumer verticals.

In 2019, George joined Hard Rock International, where he served as President of Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati and later as President of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, one of the flagship properties in the global entertainment portfolio. In Cincinnati, he transformed the property through rebranding, capital investment, and cultural revitalization, resulting in a dramatic increase in EBITDA and a #1 market share in Ohio. His success continued in Atlantic City, where he delivered the highest EBITDAM in property history, implemented an advanced CRM-driven loyalty strategy, and cultivated an employee engagement culture recognized with multiple Top Workplace Awards from USA Today and regional organizations.

A lifelong learner and advocate for world-class leadership, George holds an MBA from Columbia University and advanced certifications from Wharton, Kellogg, and the Co-Active Training Institute. He is also an NACD Leadership Fellow, underscoring his commitment to strong governance practices and ethical board leadership. His board service includes corporate directorships, gaming regulatory advisory boards, university programs, cultural organizations, and community nonprofits, reflecting his passion for giving back and broadening his impact beyond the corporate sphere.

George’s career is equally defined by his presence in the public arena. He has been a featured speaker and panelist at major gaming events, a guest lecturer at top universities, a commencement speaker, and a contributor to well-regarded hospitality and gaming publications. Whether delivering insights on operational strategy, leadership culture, or the future of entertainment, he brings clarity, authenticity, and a deep respect for the industries he represents.

Internationally experienced in Canada, George brings a global lens to consumer behavior, workforce dynamics, and market development. Outside of his professional commitments, he is passionate about gardening, health and wellness, fitness, yoga, and the pursuit of lifelong personal development—interests that reflect his grounded leadership style and balanced worldview.

Today, George continues to build organizations where people thrive, strategies live beyond spreadsheets, and operational excellence translates into meaningful, sustainable growth.
