Dr. Susan Lewis is a nationally recognized leader in environmental sustainability and decarbonization with over 15 years of experience spanning corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors. She brings a rare blend of scientific rigor, strategic foresight, and mission-driven leadership to every challenge—helping Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies, and emerging organizations embed sustainability, ESG, and climate resilience into core strategy and operations.
A dynamic communicator and systems thinker, Susan specializes in translating complex energy and environmental concepts into actionable strategies that drive measurable impact. Her work consistently accelerates progress toward climate goals while future-proofing organizations across industries.
Currently, Susan serves as an independent consultant and trusted advisor to a range of clients. Most recently, she led high-impact projects for the U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) Proving Ground, managing multimillion-dollar climate tech pilots in partnership with the Department of Energy’s National Labs. Her work directly advanced federal targets, including fleet electrification and net-zero operations, positioning her as a key driver of the federal government’s clean energy transition.
In the corporate sphere, Susan has held executive and leadership roles with major brands. As Senior Director of Environmental Sustainability at Campbell Soup Company, she led the strategy to meet 2030 science-based targets, initiated transformative decarbonization programs, streamlined environmental data systems, and unlocked federal funding for clean energy initiatives.
At Comcast NBCUniversal, she helped define and scale the company’s enterprise-wide sustainability strategy. From launching its first $1 billion green bond to advising on critical infrastructure resiliency, energy efficiency, renewable energy procurement and leading the charge to electrify one of the largest vehicle fleets in the U.S., Susan’s cross-functional leadership helped embed ESG and sustainability across the enterprise. She also guided Universal Parks and Resorts (UPR) to establish the first LEED Certified theme park in the world.
Earlier in her career, Susan built the Army National Guard’s energy program from the ground up. As State Energy Manager, she secured over $10 million in funding, doubled the state’s solar capacity, launched an EV charging program, and drove a 30% reduction in energy use—earning both state and national recognition for innovation and leadership.
Susan holds a PhD in Energy and Environmental Policy from the University of Delaware, along with Master’s degrees in Coastal Zone Management and Environmental Education. She is a LEED Accredited Professional and a graduate of the U.S. Department of Energy’s NREL Executive Energy Leadership Program.
A sought-after speaker and thought leader, Susan has presented at leading forums such as Carnegie Mellon Energy Week and the Pennsylvania Energy Efficiency Conference. Her expertise spans decarbonization, climate tech, ESG reporting, fleet and infrastructure electrification, and stakeholder engagement.
Susan’s leadership style is collaborative, agile, and results-driven. Equally at home in executive boardrooms and field operations, she drives innovation through trust, clarity, and strategic action.
