Denis Irambona is an accomplished international construction consultant with over two decades of specialized experience managing high-impact infrastructure programs across Africa and the Mediterranean. With a reputation for excellence in fragile, post-conflict, and humanitarian settings, Denis brings deep expertise in infrastructure strategy, donor compliance, procurement governance, and climate-resilient development. His extensive portfolio—valued at more than 75 million USD—reflects not only his technical acumen but also his ability to navigate complex political, environmental, and institutional landscapes with integrity and vision.
Currently serving as an International Construction Consultant with UNICEF, Denis plays a critical leadership role in advising governments and development stakeholders on infrastructure strategies that align with national development plans and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Based in Tunisia, he leads the infrastructure planning cycle for multisectoral programs in education, health, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), child protection, and social inclusion. His work ensures that projects serving the most vulnerable are not only safe and sustainable but also inclusive and climate resilient.
Prior to his current role, Denis held several progressive leadership positions within UNICEF, including Construction Specialist and Construction Engineer across Tunisia, South Sudan, and the Central African Republic. In South Sudan, he managed a USD 40 million infrastructure portfolio under some of the world’s most challenging humanitarian conditions, adapting project methodologies to conflict zones and guiding national standards in climate-resilient infrastructure. In Central African Republic, he delivered over USD 25 million in high-quality infrastructure with a focus on local ownership, risk management, donor trust, and third-party assurance frameworks.
Earlier in his career, Denis held senior technical roles with Belgian Development Agency Enabel, leading rural infrastructure strategies in Burundi, and directing high-performance delivery teams in the private sector as Technical Director and Civil Engineer for construction firms such as SOCOTRAPE, ECOGET, and SOCIEX. His leadership in project planning, contract management, and environmental and social safeguards enabled organizations to consistently exceed delivery benchmarks while enhancing operational resilience.
While still pursuing his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Bolton, Denis holds a master’s degree in Procurement and Contracts Management from the University of Salford, and an engineering degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Burundi. Fluent in English and French, he is also adept at stakeholder diplomacy, multilateral procurement, and results-based reporting across global development frameworks. His competencies extend across construction management, infrastructure lifecycle planning, environmental consulting, real estate development, and project monitoring.
Throughout his career, Denis has maintained a clear commitment to equity, sustainability, and transparency. He is widely recognized for his ability to convene cross-sectoral partnerships, influence national infrastructure policy, and guide organizations through complex procurement, compliance, and risk landscapes. His multidisciplinary approach combines rigorous technical standards with a passion for delivering positive outcomes to underserved communities.
