In 1999, she founded Prevent Human Trafficking (PHT), a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that built bridges between the U.S. and Southeast Asia to tackle the root causes of trafficking. Her work influenced major policy advancements, including the passage of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000. Through study tours to Thailand and beyond, Chris gave participants firsthand insights into the complexities of trafficking and human rights, and when travel was restricted, she innovated once again, bringing these experiences to life virtually.

Chris holds an MPS in Interactive Technology from New York University, where she was president and co-founder of the Entrepreneurs Club at the Tisch School of the Arts. She also earned an MPA in Public Administration & Social Entrepreneurship and a B.A. in Political Science from American University.
