“Engineering Quality Beyond Compliance—Driving Excellence with Strategic Precision.”

For more than 30 years, Bernard Storey Jr. has exemplified operational leadership at the intersection of compliance, quality systems, and organizational excellence. A U.S. Navy veteran turned executive strategist, Bernard has built a distinguished career across highly regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing. Known for his ability to architect and lead transformational quality initiatives across global operations, he is a mission-driven leader who pairs deep technical insight with a passion for cultivating high-performance teams. His career trajectory reflects a relentless pursuit of operational integrity, compliance, and efficiency.

Bernard began his professional journey in the U.S. Navy, serving for two decades in roles that demanded discipline, technical acumen, and leadership under pressure. His tenure encompassed global deployments overseeing quality assurance and maintenance for complex missile and explosive systems. As a trainer and technician, Bernard delivered anti-terrorism and weapons systems training to over 1,000 personnel, laying the foundation for his leadership ethos: excellence is not an act, but a habit formed through precision, accountability, and mentorship.

Upon his military retirement in 2007, Bernard transitioned to the private sector, entering aerospace and defense with a focus on supplier quality assurance. His early roles included engineering leadership at Nammo Talley Inc. and United Technologies Aerospace, where he built systems that enhanced product integrity, conducted regulatory audits, and developed comprehensive quality codes for supplier management. Bernard’s gift for translating technical standards into operational frameworks quickly established him as a trusted leader in risk management and compliance execution.

Bernard’s impact was notably amplified at MD Helicopters and Honeywell Aerospace. There, he executed supplier recovery initiatives using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies, led Material Review Board (MRB) processes, and introduced key metrics such as Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) that led to hundreds of thousands in cost savings. At Honeywell, he steered defect reduction efforts, conducted extensive root cause analyses, and led stakeholder collaborations that elevated supplier reliability and organizational trust.

His trajectory ascended further at Nike Inc., where he initially served as Quality Engineering Manager before being elevated to Director of Quality Excellence & Compliance Governance. In these roles, Bernard became the architect of Nike’s only global ISO 9001-certified quality network, overseeing a $1.5 million budget and a team of over 30 professionals. He standardized enterprise-wide audit protocols and led integration efforts with new product teams, establishing a benchmark for global compliance in the consumer manufacturing space.

Continuing his momentum, Bernard took on the challenge of transforming quality infrastructure at Arrow Electronics and ZEVX Inc.—a pioneer in EV technologies. At ZEVX, he served as Corporate Director of Quality, spearheading the establishment of the company’s quality department and implementing scalable systems aligned with ISO, GMP, and environmental regulations. Under his leadership, ZEVX achieved critical certifications and introduced software solutions to manage inspections and nonconformance reporting, enabling the organization to scale sustainably.

Bernard currently serves as an Instructional Assistant at Grand Canyon University’s College of Engineering and Technology, where he channels his decades of expertise into the classroom. Teaching Engineering Quality Assurance and Control, he is helping shape the next generation of engineering leaders through hands-on instruction in APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, and DOE methodologies. His academic contributions are complemented by his pursuit of a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, underscoring his lifelong commitment to learning and leadership development.

With over 130 certifications—including a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, AS9100 Lead Auditor, ISO 9001 Auditor, and Kaizen Facilitator—Bernard brings unmatched technical depth to every boardroom and operations floor he enters. He is fluent in German and possesses international exposure across Europe, East Asia, and India, offering a global perspective essential to modern quality leadership.

Bernard’s professional philosophy is grounded in servant leadership, systems thinking, and the belief that quality should never be an afterthought—it must be embedded in culture. His involvement with Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster response organization, reflects his belief in service beyond the workplace. He is also a decorated veteran, recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal and multiple Navy Achievement Medals, which highlight his unwavering dedication to mission success under pressure.

As he sets his sights on advisory and board service roles, Bernard seeks to empower organizations with proactive compliance strategies, cross-functional collaboration, and a keen eye for operational resilience. He is especially drawn to companies within the aerospace, defense, and automotive sectors—industries where safety, precision, and quality are paramount. Bernard is not merely a compliance leader—he is a visionary engineer of quality cultures that elevate both product and people.
