Alden Bruce Badger is a seasoned executive with a remarkable career spanning over five decades in the industrial, manufacturing, and technical sectors. His leadership has propelled companies across multiple continents, guiding them through major challenges, expansions, and strategic transformations. Known for his expertise in industrial refrigeration, process equipment, and water treatment solutions, Badger has consistently demonstrated an ability to lead and develop companies while maintaining a forward-thinking approach to operational efficiency and technological innovation.
Currently serving as Chairman and CEO of Aqueous Solutions Global, a water treatment manufacturer based in Richmond, Virginia, Alden has been instrumental in the development and success of the company since its inception in 2015. Alongside his brother, Dr. Timothy Badger, Alden designed the patented process that forms the foundation of Aqueous Solutions Global’s operations. Under his leadership, the company successfully navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and is projected to achieve significant profitability in 2024.
Before his tenure at Aqueous Solutions Global, Alden was the President of the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR) from 2008 to 2014. His leadership was pivotal in restoring financial stability to the organization, increasing membership, and establishing globally recognized technical standards. His contributions to the industry are marked by his dedication to promoting the safe and efficient use of ammonia and other natural refrigerants, such as carbon dioxide, through standards that are now widely accepted across the globe.
Alden’s career includes his role as Managing Director for EVAPCO, Inc.’s Asia Pacific operations, where he oversaw manufacturing facilities in Beijing, Shanghai, and Sydney from 1999 to 2007. His leadership helped turn around financially struggling operations and establish EVAPCO as a market leader in the region. One of his most notable achievements during this time was building a state-of-the-art factory and Asia headquarters in Shanghai in just six months, demonstrating his ability to manage large-scale projects efficiently.
Prior to his work in Asia, Alden was Vice President of the Refrigeration Division at York International from 1995 to 1999. During his time at York, he was integral in restructuring and consolidating seven companies into the York Refrigeration Group. His leadership and strategic planning enabled York to become a dominant player in the global refrigeration market.
Alden’s entrepreneurial journey began at the age of 31, when he purchased and successfully operated Industrial Process Equipment, Inc., a process design and sales firm, for 21 years before selling it in 1995. During his time as President, he designed and sold over 500 systems, including 47 process cooling projects for Sinopec in China, and implemented innovative process systems in countries as diverse as Egypt, Iraq, and Argentina.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Alden is the President of the Lynnfield Scholarship Foundation, where he initiated a new scholarship program based on proceeds from personal insurance taken out by community leaders with the LSF named as the beneficiary. The program was hugely successful and continues to provide $10,000 scholarships for 10 or more students each year if they maintain passing grades. He also served on the Lynnfield Finance Committee for eleven years. (Lynnfield, Massachusetts is a residential community just Northwest of Boston.)
Alden is a distinguished graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
