Tim McKay

Tim McKay has devoted more than four decades to shaping how people, organizations, and communities tell their stories, building a career that evolved alongside the communications industry itself from journalism and photography into film, broadcasting, digital media, and integrated strategic messaging. Beginning as a photographer, writer, and instructor, he developed a deep respect for authenticity and the power of narrative to influence perception and inspire action, foundations that guided his later work in public relations and government communications, including service in the North Carolina Governor’s Office of Citizen Affairs where his storytelling efforts earned the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. Through Tim McKay Consulting and executive leadership roles at Media Partners, Inc., he led national film productions, strategic campaigns, and integrated branding initiatives across corporate, nonprofit, political, and government sectors, always centering his work on mission and trust. Today, as Creative Director for nonprofit clients at mpiTOO, Tim focuses exclusively on helping purpose driven organizations communicate impact, mobilize supporters, and strengthen community engagement. An award winning filmmaker, sought after speaker, and dedicated board contributor, he continues to approach storytelling not as promotion but as service, blending journalistic integrity, artistic vision, and strategic clarity to help organizations articulate not only what they do, but why they matter.
